Brandon Twp.- The dairy cattle at Cook’s Farm Dairy have it pretty good’a warm barn, plenty to eat, and a pasture to graze.
But on Oct. 8, the herd of about 200 received a little entertainment, too.
Local rocker Kid Rock, along with a crew of about 40, descended on Cook’s Farm Dairy, 2950 E. Seymour Lake Road, to shoot his latest video and the title track to his new album, ‘Born Free.? The album goes on sale Nov. 16, but the Born Free video, which is now on YouTube and MTV, features Cook’s Farm Dairy as a backdrop, along with other locations in Brandon and Groveland townships.
‘They contacted us in September about using the farm for the video,? said Clark Cook, farm owner. ‘We kept it quiet around town’we just did not want a crowd out here.?
During the one day video shoot, the crew filmed about a half-mile behind Cook’s Farm in the middle of a hay field. They also closed off Grange Hall Road about a mile west of M-15.
‘That’s where Kid Rock was cruising down Grange Hall Road on a motorcycle near the Groveland Township fire station. If you watch the video you can pick out the curves in the road. There were also some video clips of Allen Road.?
Cook said Kid Rock’s undercover men arrived early in the morning. After that, the food arrived, followed by equipment and motorhomes with the crew. Kid Rock showed up at about 2 in the afternoon in a motorhome. He bought some ice cream and signed T-shirts for some of the kids at the farm.
‘There were even some groupies that arrived later in the day,? laughed Cook.
