Bottom draw tube facts

Yes, it’s true that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources planned on having the Village of Lake Orion take over operations of the bottom draw down tube at Green’s Park.
A May 1991 agreement between the village and the DNR indicated village personnel would be trained in required proceedures over a six year monitoring study.
The village then had the option of accepting operational responsibility for the tube. But it never happened, according to LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel.
The agreement also indicated the DNR would “allow discharge from the bottom draw structure only when water is flowing over the dam.”
