University Center — On March 19, the Ortonville Brandon Track and Field teams began their season at the SVSU Indoor Invitational. There was no team score kept in the 35 team field which included Division 1 schools.
For Brandon, pole vaulter Corgan Barkiewicz cleared 9 feet to qualify for the Freshman Oakland County meet; Shot putters Gavin Rochester and Will Smith, PRs over 30 feet. Long jumper Emma Mulcahey, 14th of 45 competitors.
The Girls 4×600 meter relay team, of Clark, Hernandez, Mackey, and Hollenbeck, ran under 9 minutes. The Boys 4×600 meter relay team, of Hubbard, Compau, Wychuyse, and Krajenke, followed with a time of 7:04. The Boys 60 meters Luke Stein, S’Bastion Taylor, and Ethan Yang all PR’s and under 8 seconds. The Girls 60 meter hurdles Sadie Buell PR 3.57. The Boys 60 meter hurdles Andrew Zoch 17th, Alex Aliva and Chris McCombs PRs. Girls 400 meters Sadie Buell PR, Corgen Barkiewicz PR, Addison Hollenbeck improved by 8 seconds; Girls 800 meters Aquetzalli Hernandez her best indoor time; Boys 800 meters, Jacob Hylton 10th place at 2:02.8 and Connor Krajenke PR. Boys 200 meters, freshmen trio Oles, Schweitzer, and Montgomery all ran PRs; Girls 1,600 meters, Ava Clark and Clara Mackey (PR) both ran 6:24. Boys 1,600 meters Gabe Hubbard 5:09; Boys 4×300 meter relay team of Zoch, Hylton, Stein and Avlia, 2:38 for 24th.
