Brandon Blackhawks Cross Country compete at the Holly Invitational

Holly— On Sept. 14, the Brandon Cross Country teams traveled to the Springfield Oaks County Park for the Holly Cross Country Invitational.
The Lady Blackhawks finished 11th out of 14 teams, led by BHS Ava Clark who was 29th overall and the only female medalist on the day.
Clark was followed by BHS Senior Clara Mackey who broke her two year old PR by running 23:25 and BHS Danielle St James who also had a 50 second seasons best. The Blackhawk top five were rounded out by Aquetzalli Hernandez, and Addison Hollenbeck. Lilly Mastin was the sixth Blackhawk on the day to finish.
The Blackhawk Boys team followed in slightly warmer conditions.
The boys team took 10th out of the 14 teams in the division, led by medal winning and season’s best performances from BHS Nathen Brinker, and BHS Jacob Hylton. They took 20th and 21st respectively. They were followed by freshmen Chase Compau and Braxten Spurr who both had season’s best on the difficult course. The fifth and sixth place runners on the day were BHS Troy Wychuyse and Ryan Savioe, and Alex Burch rounded the runners on the day.
The next meet will be at 4:30 p.m., Sept. 25, Goodrich Middle School will host 12 Flint Metro League teams.
