Brandon Blackhawks top Denby Tars 19-14

Brandon Twp. — On Sept. 6 the Brandon Blackhawks defeated the Detroit Denby Tars 19-14 in a non-league match-up on Salute to Military, Police Officers and First Responders night.
“The win was a great effort by both teams,” said Head Coach Brad Zube.
The Blackhawks improve to 2-0 on the season and Denby drops to 0-2.
The Blackhawks jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter but were held scoreless in the second and third quarters. BHS Jacob Dubiel scored from 23 yards out with 2 minutes left to take the lead. BHS Lance Briolat tackled the Denby quarterback on fourth and goal at the 4 yard line as time expired.
The Blackhawks scored six in the fourth quarter for the win. The Blackhawks rolled up 233 yards of total offense with 74 yards in the air and 159 yards on the ground.
BHS Quarterback Sr. Lance Briolat completed five of seven passes for 67 yards and one touchdown. He threw one interception.
BHS Fullback Sr. Damian Watton had 11 carries for 55 yards; BHS Soph. Jacob Dubiel had eight carries for 49 yards and one touchdown, BHS Sr. Lance Briolat carried the ball seven times for 53 yards and Danny Protiva rushed six times for 32 yards and one touchdown.
Receiving BHS Demetri McNeir caught two passes for 50 yards and Protiva snagged one touchdown pass for six yards.
On defense BHS Darrin Linenger had 10 tackles, BHS Kurt Briolat 10 tackles and 1 sack; BHS Albert Rowe nine tackles and one fumble recovery and BHS Lance Briolat seven tackles.
