Brandon girls swimmers fall to combined Kearsley-Davison unit

Brandon’s varsity girls swimming team took one on the chin Oct. 27 against the combined Kearsley-Davison team, losing 111-75.
Kearsley-Davison won first place in all 12 events at the meet. However, the Blackhawks managed some solid second-place finishes in a number of events, including all three relay events:
?200 yard medley relay ? Aubree King, Jessica Swineford, Alexandra Sowa and Marisa Westphall (2:21.87).
?200 yard freestyle relay team ‘Jennifer Frye, Kaitlin Grost, Shannon Penix and Christina Hart (1:59.84).
?400 year freestyle relay team ? Sowa, Penix, Kelly Kennedy and Hart (4:27.68).
Kennedy also took second in two individual events, the 200 yard freestyle (2:22.42) and the 500 yard freestyle (6:24.5). Other second-place finishers for the Blackhawks were Jamie Kirts in diving (138.2), Stephanie Peck in the 100 yard butterfly (1:16.46), and Tara Bartle in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:26.52).
The Blackhawks were slated to compete in the Flint Metro League meet Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Oct. 5.
