Both Goodrich and Brandon’s varsity golf teams lived to fight another day after district action a little more than a week ago.
The Martians placed fourth in Division 3 district competition Thursday, Oct. 5 at Holly Meadows in Capac. Goodrich finished with a team score of 321, while Flint Powers won the district with a team score of 295.
The top six teams, as well as the top six golfers not on a regional qualifying team, advance to regionals. Goodrich’s regional site was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 12 at The Fortress in Frankenmuth.
Matt Christensen led the Martians with a score of 73, while Caleb Jones added a score of 82 and Mark Dresselhouse and Tyler Frantangelo added 83 apiece.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks qualified for Division 2 regionals with a team score of 345, placing fifth in district action at Flint Elks Golf Club. Kearsley and Clio tied for first with a team score of 325, with Kearsley winning on a tiebreaker; Fenton finished third at 333.
Ryan Bilkos placed third among all district golfers with a round of 75, while Brian Jordan finished fifth at 79.
Brandon was scheduled to compete in Division 2 regional action Oct. 12 at Oxford Hills Golf Club.
