In his first report of the year, Brandon Township Recreation Director Fred Waybrant said several programs are at all-time registration highs.
For example, Waybrant said ski club membership is currently at 90, while 85 people have registered for boys? recreational basketball, third through sixth grades, up from 48 last year.
In addition, Waybrant said boys? travel basketball has 24 participants in fifth and sixth grades, while the boys? league basketball program has enough students for four teams.
This year, the department is hosting their first MMWA wrestling tournament. Waybrant said this tournament will bring revenue for local businesses as well as money to purchase a wrestling mat for their program.
The tourney will be held Sunday, Feb. 8 at Brandon High School. On that same day, the department will be hosting AAU girls? basketball tournaments at other Brandon school sites and at two Davison schools.
