The Lake Orion girls? varsity basketball team is hosting its annual Coaches vs. Cancer game on Monday, Jan. 16, when the Lady Dragons host Brandon at 7 p.m. Coach Steve Roberts hopes to have a large crowd on hand for the game to recognize a number of Lake Orion teachers and other community members who have died from and/or survived the disease. Pink and light blue will be the colors of choice during the game, worn by the teams. Former Lake Orion teacher, coach and cancer survivor Donn Hoganson will toss the ceremonial opening tip off, then announce the game. There also will be special giveaways, raffles and 50/50 drawings, with the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.
