The Orion Township Board of Trustees approved an appropriation of $35, 478.76 to purchase four new thermal imaging cameras, mobile and desk chargers along with an extended warranty. These four will replace three 20-year old helmet mounted thermal cameras.
Fire Chief Robert Smith said the items were indispensable for locating victims in a blacked out room and are expected to save precious minutes. Funding will come from the Fire Capital Improvement Fund.
