Anyone walking into Christine Wellings third grade classroom at Harvey-Swanson Elementary may notice an increased number of flowers, and one big smile on the face of the young teacher.
The increased cheer is due to Wellings recent achievement and honor of being named Teacher of the Year for Brandon School District.
‘It was the most unbelievable feeling when I found out,? Wellings said. ‘Being a teacher, I don’t always know if I am doing a good job or if I am on the right track with the kids, and now with this distinction, I know.?
Welling was more than happy to share the credit for her success. ‘When you work for people who believe in the same things you do and share your enthusiasm, it’s hard not to love to teach,? Wellings said.
Harvey-Swanson Principal, Helen Clemetsen was also elated by Wellings success. ‘We are delighted that she won this honor,? Clemetsen said. ‘She is very deserving and we all love her.?
Welling will be honored with her distinction at the Monday, April 14 Brandon School District board meeting, and will be given her award, along with the county wide winners, on April 30 at Oakland County Schools.
