Ortonville — The Brandon Township Public Library is launching a punch card as their winter reading program this year.
“We’re hoping that they encourage our community to visit the library and experience different collections and activities,” said Alyssa Waldie, public services manager.
For the entire month of January, patrons can complete a total of eight activities on the punch card. After five punches, patrons can choose a pencil or a bookmark, and after eight, they get a coupon for a free item from the Friends of the Library bookstore. They also get entered into a drawing for an additional prize.
The activities include applying for or using your library card, attending a library program, checking out an item from the ‘New’ section, checking out ten items in one visit, tagging BTPL in a social media post, utilizing a digital service such as Libby or Hoopla, contributing to the community puzzle, and checking out a DVD. The front desk will punch the card for each completed activity.
“Patrons have the entire month of January to complete their punch cards,” she said. “They can pick up their card, and turn in their completed card, at the front desk.”
