A clean store, fast and friendly service and a competitive weekly ad are the nuts and bolts of Bueche’s Food World.
The store has been at its current location for 14 years, but the supermarket has been serving customers for more than 90 years in the area. Brothers Chris and Denny Bueche also opened a new store in Flushing last year.
Bueche’s continually updates items to please customers.
‘We get a lot of different items changing on a monthly basis,? says store manager Joe Dore. ‘If a customer wants something, we do our best to locate and order the item.?
Bueche’s has expanded their offering of organic products which have no preservatives and are more natural. A new racking system has been installed and the store now carries more than 200 organic items. Organic produce includes potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes, celery, oranges, and apples. Bueche’s also has dairy and grocery items that are organic.
‘Customers are requesting healthier items,? Dore says.
The mainstays of the supermarket remain- a butcher department with fresh cuts of beef, chicken, and pork; seafood; dairy; frozen food department; and a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department.
The deli offers a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, dips, meats, cheeses, party trays, rotisserie chicken, barbecue ribs and even fondue chocolate. The bakery makes breads, pies, donuts and Bueche’s famous paczki all from scratch. Delicious cakes include caramel praline, red velevet, Irish mist and cheesecakes and can be made to order.
Bueche’s has stamps, lottery tickets and is now offering Western Union and money orders. Bueche’s gift cards can be purchased in any denomination.
Bueche’s continues its work in the community with a Cash for Kids program in which for every dollar in sales (excluding beer and tobacco), one cent is given to buy sports uniforms and equipment or school supplies. Organizations can sign up at store.
Dore notes that good old-fashioned service is the real key to Bueche’s success.
‘We don’t try to be flashy,? he says. ‘I think a lot of supermarkets bag groceries, but we go one step further and carry out for you. Our customers get low prices every day in addition to the ad and we have a friendly environment.
