Builder receives some sewer relief

All the houses in Village Homes, behind the Marathon Station on M-24, haven’t been sold and the builder recently asked village officials for some reduction in his sewer charges.
Tony Gallo of Gallo Homes asked that the sewer usage charges on the unsold homes be reduced to the minimum since the water used didn’t go through the Village of Lake Orion’s system.
According to LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel, he’s not disputing water usage because he watered the lawns on a regular basis during the summer
Gallo also wanted late charges be waived since he claims to “have been diligently trying to resolve this issue.”
Van Tassel disputed this and told council members on Nov. 24 the village office hadn’t heard from him until just recently. “Since Gallo isn’t disputing water usage charges, he could have paid those charges without incurring the penalty,” she said.
Council members decided to reduce Gallo’s sewer charges, but wouldn’t waive any late penalties.
