Hospice volunteers
From 6 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 1 through Feb. 24, training for Genesys Hospice volunteers will be held at the Genesys Hospice Care Center, 7280 S. State Road, Goodrich. Hospice volunteers are needed to visit patients in their homes, provide companionship, offer transportation, writing for and reading to patients, and performing light housework duties. Starting at 4 p.m., Nov. 18 at Brandon Middle School, 609 Ortonville Road, the Brandon School District is hosting the Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner. The event will have entertainment and a traditional Thanksgiving feast prepared by the Brandon School District Food Services Department. Support the event by making a donation for the door prize contest, table accessories, centerpieces, etc. A $1 donation per person is requested to help offset costs of the event. Mother’s Day flower sale
From 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., May 9, Bridgewood Church’s Women’s Life Group, 6765 Rattalee Lake Road, will host a flower sale to help support the Ortonville Relay for Life.
Rummage/bake sale
From 9 a.m.-8 p.m., May 14, , and 9 a.m.-3 p.m.,May 15, the Goodrich United Methodist Church 8071 State Road. (M-15) will host its semi-annual rummage sale. A bake sale will be featured on Thursday. Proceeds will go toward missions.

Basketball fundraiser

Cub Scout, dogsleds
Cub Scout Pack 340 is hosting a snowshoe hike and winter activities from 2 – 4:15 p.m., Feb. 7 at Independence Oaks County Park. Joe Gutowski and his team of sled dogs will be on hand for the hike. Meet the Lincolns
Fred and Bonnie Priebe will put on a reenactment of the marriage of the Lincolns from 1-2 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Brandon Library. The reenactment will be part of the Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration. Dodgeball

School board election
Goodrich-The deadline to file petitions for the Goodrich Area Schools Board of Education elections is 4 p.m., Feb.10 with the Genesee County clerk/election coordinator’s office, 900 S. Saginaw St., Flint. The election is May 5. There are two seats available, both four-year terms, expiring June 30. Cub scout pack
From 6- 8 p.m., Nov. 21, the Oaktree Elementary School, Cub Scout pack 340 of Goodrich is hosting a space derby. The miniature propeller-driven rockets are provided to the scouts in kit form.
