The Oxford Wildcats varsity baseball team lost 5-1 to visiting Lake Orion on a blustery April 10.
Visiting pitcher Brad Schaenzer was the standout player of the game as he struck out Oxford batters 17 times.
Lake Orion Coach Andy Schramek was obviously happy with his sophomore southpaw.
‘He’s got a lot of velocity and movement, Schramek noted, and when he’s on, he’s very difficult for hitters to handle.?
Oxford Coach Willis was, in turn, not as pleased with the results but said it ‘provided a good meauring stick,? nonetheless.
Willis said the score didn’t represent how close the game was, he noted, but felt that the Wildcats are ‘right where we need to be.?
Oxford and Lake Orion will renew their rivalry on April 27 with a double-header to be held at Lake Orion High School.
