Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Brandon Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), I express our thanks to Ortonville Masonic Lodge, #339 F. & A. M., for their donation of $500.00 to purchase radios for emergency/disaster response. Their generous donation will assist us in establishing effective communications throughout Brandon Township as we respond to assist our local citizens.

I also express our appreciation to the citizens of our community for their support and response to our fund raising dinner on 10 September. We were able to raise $550.00 toward the total cost of approximately $2300 for the communications package. A previous donation by the Lions Club is earmarked for purchase of winter protective clothing for the CERT Team. Again, we appreciate the support of our community organizations and individual citizens.

The Brandon CERT Team receives no tax monies from the village or township and must raise its own funds to purchase necessary equipment. All team members are volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for their work. Anyone wishing to donate toward the CERT communications package may contact Lee Stewart at 248-627-3324.
