Almost every year I take a group of people to Honduras for one week to serve the poor. We serve through an organization called ‘Heart to Honduras? (www.hth.org). We go back into the beautiful mountain villages, where the scenery is spectacular and the poverty is grinding.
Over the years we have done dozens of projects. Last year we built a house (about the size of your bedroom) for a widow and her children.
We fed over 300 people. The year before that we painted a public school building and screened in some houses. About five years ago we started a local church in the village of Borboton. We support their pastor and send financial support throughout the year.
We plan to go again in 2013. The dates are April 6-13. We will leave on a Saturday and return on a Saturday. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO, I’d love to have you join us. Our accommodations are comfortable, the food is good, and there’s nothing like riding in the back of a pickup truck high up in the mountains where you feel like you can reach up and touch the stars.
