Oxford’s Varsity Cheer team keeps on improving at the season continues, even if the results do not match the effort.
On Saturday, the girls finished fourth in their division with a score of 604.3596.
It is another solid effort for Oxford’s first year coach Sheri Russell.
Even though the team is young, they keep hanging with some of the older teams said Russell.
‘We improved our scores in all rounds, but we still have lots of work to do,? she said. ‘Our goal is to keep on improving.?
Their next chance at improving is Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Holly.
The Varsity Cheer team rang in the New Year with a solid effort at the Brandon meet on Jan 8, finishing third in their division and fifth overall.
The cheer team was looking to improve on their score from the last competition, and they did, compiling a total score of 583.898, up from 569.956 from their previous meet.
Coach Russell was happy with the results from the Jan 8 meet. ‘I think that we are starting off very well for being such a young team and see a bright future for us. We know that we still have a lot to work on, but it is early in the season and are confident that we will get stronger with each competition,? she said.
In their division, the Wildcats finished behind host school Brandon, who won the meet, and Cilo, who finished third overall.
