After hosting a 50-year anniversary celebration for Michigan’s only American Legion Baseball Team to win the national championship, Detroit Edison Post 187 of 1959, Chief Pontiac Post of Independence Township hosted game 6 of the American Legion baseball zone playoffs, July 25.
Fort Dearborn beat Livonia, 9-7, but fell in game 8, 16-5, to Chief Pontiac’s own team, July 26.
Chief Pontiac went on to beat Auburn Hills in game 9, 8-5. The Independence Township team takes on Royal Oak Post 253 in game two of the American Legion State Playoffs, Thursday, July 30, at Adrian College.
