Rain or shine, golfers and sponsors will have the opportunity to ‘Golf Fore Kids? at the third annual Lake Orion Education Foundation Golf Outing.
Those who wish to contribute to benefit Lake Orion public schools can hit the links on Tuesday, June 17 at Devil’s Ridge Golf Club. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
This year’s outing marks the first year that a major automotive company will be a part of the event, as Chrysler has partnered with the LOEF.
‘I heard about the drive for the Chrysler charity event and we submitted last year but we just fell short because we had so many people doing it,? said Dave Jones, golf committee chairperson. ‘This year we were selected when they combined with their national event called Chrysler Club Championship. Only 800 (charities) were selected nationally and we were one of them.?
The Chrysler Club Championship is a national program that combines Chrysler’s support for the game of golf with exciting hole-in-one competitions for amateur golfers; a fundraising element for charities; and exposure for Chrysler’s premium vehicles.
Chrysler’s contribution to this event will be a Chrysler 300C luxury vehicle for any amateur golfer who can hit a hole-in-one on the second hole.
According to Jones, Chrysler will also be donating $5 to the charity and a sleeve of golf balls to anyone who test drives a car and fills out a survey at the event.
‘It’s a win-win for everyone,? he said.
Jones added the goal is for the charity event to raise between $15,000 and $20,000. As of June 2, the amount raised was $12,500.
‘We have a lot of teachers, school administrators and people from the community who are participating,? Jones said. ‘The first year was a little sluggish, last year everyone started getting on board, but this year it’s just kind of taking off as a Lake Orion event.?
