City hopes to get new trucks

The City may get two new dump trucks, but not for free. The Village Council will hold a special meeting on September 6 at 7 p.m. in the Village Hall to discuss a grant from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).
SEMCOG’s Transportation Improvement Plan has awarded the council $163,633 to ‘replace two diesel utility vehicles with newer, less polluting vehicles? said a letter from SEMCOG’s Policy Analyst Stephen Brudzinski.
Brudzinski’s letter also explained the city would need to ‘match 20 percent of total project costs from non-federal funds? to replace their old dump trucks.
The council intends to weigh their options and make a decision during their special meeting on Thursday, which is open to the public. The City must reply to SEMCOG by September 7.
