The Clarkston Community Band will commence rehearsals on Sept. 6 for their 10th anniversary season.
Established in 1996 by Jeanne Pierce, the band continues to perform free concerts for the community and operates under the auspices of Independence Township Parks & Recreation.
Composed of more the 50 musicians, the group draws talented amateurs not only from Clarkston and surrounding towns and high schools, but throughout the greater Metro-Detroit area.
‘I am very excited about our 10th anniversary season? said Vince Chrisman, music director to the band. ‘The band consists of a dedicated group of musicians in making music and friends and the results are the enthusiastically received by our increasing audiences. The members enjoy very much the sight-reading portion of every rehearsal resulting in a higher level of performance which they should be proud.?
Band membership is open to anyone who plays a band instrument from high school on up ? even if you haven’t played in a long while!
Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings, 7 p.m. at Sashabaw Middle School. For more information on joining
