A bid from V.I.L Construction to construct a safety path along Clarkston Road has been approved, with the path to be built this spring.
The bid for $588,914 was accepted by the Orion Township trustees on March 15, for a path to be built between Joslyn and Baldwin Roads on Clarkston Road. The project was re-bid this year after the board rejected a low bid of $711,188 last year for the project, resulting in a savings of $122,274 for the township.
The board’s approval is contingent upon approval from the Road Commission of Oakland County and the Michigan Department of Transportation. The project is partially funded by a TEA-21 grant, Oakland County Parks and Lake Orion Schools.
