Clarkston’s newest restaurant open for business

It’s been months of waiting, of driving up Dixie and watching the old Deer Lake Inn — vacant for years — slowly transform itself. Last week, the new Kruse’s Deer Lake Inn officially opened for business.
Over 100 VIPs were invited to a grand opening extravaganza on August 28, tasting select entrees and appetizers and mingling with staff and the Kruse family.
‘We’ve wanted to come to Clarkston for a long time,? Alex Kruse said, ‘So, we’re very excited to finally be here.?
Alex, his brother Casey and father Bill were all smiles last Tuesday as they wove in and greeted guests.
The old restaurant and the fading memories of stale beer and cigarettes are gone — replaced with a new vibrant exterior and interior. The restaurant is open and airy — inviting to all with expanded seating (both inside and out).
According to the Kruses, when the Deer Lake Inn is up and running full steam ahead, it will employ 90 people.
Diners can expect a menu with their favorite Kruse cuisine (lots of sea food, pastas and their famous bread) with specials.
The Kruse’s Deer Lake Inn opens Monday thru Saturday at 4 p.m. (noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays). For more information call 248-795-2077.
