BHS Freshman orientation

Dodgeball
The free community gym and dodgeball tournaments at the Victory World Outreach church are moved to every first and third Saturday from 7-10 p.m. During this event kids can play basketball, dodgeball, fooseball, table tennis and board games. It is $1 to enter the dodgeball tournament, which includes the divisions sixth grade and under and seventh grade and up, and the winning team in both division takes home the entrance money. Kids 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult. There will be free food and pop sold for $1. Volunteers and chaperones are needed and appreciated, as well as any food donations.
VFW Ladies Auxiliary
If your son or daughter, husband or wife, mother or father or grandfather or grandmother served in any branch of the armed services in a foreign country you may join the Sherman-Wudarcki-Sutton VFW 582 Ladies Auxiliary. Meetings are from 7:30-9:15 p.m., the third Tuesday of each month. The purpose is to provide assistance to local veterans and fund Michigan children of deceased veterans. Books for Bikes
The Masons? Book for Bikes contest will be going on until April 15. The program rewards Brandon School grades three through five for reading with the incentive of a new bike. For each eight pre-approved book students read, they are entered into a drawing for one of six new bikes donated by area Masons. To participate you must notify your students? teacher and fill out a Books for Bike form
GMS Equestrian

Healing touch
From 9:30-11:30 a.m., the first Tuesday of each month, at St. Anne Catholic Church (Hardy Hall), 825 S. Ortonville Road, Ortonville, Jan Tait, RN. Rocking & Raking
On April 30, the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville, will be hosting their annual spring Teens and Seniors Rocking and Raking Yard Clean-up project. Any senior citizen or disabled adult can request yard clean-up, washed windows or minor chores by notifying the EBSC. Contact the Clerk’s office to donate needed supplies or food for the luncheon. The Class of 2011 All Night Senior Party will be hosting ‘Moonlight Nine Pin No-Tap Bowling Fundraiser? April 15, 2011 starting at 9:30pm.
It will be held at Cherry Hills Lanes North located at 6697 Dixie Highway in Clarkston. Tickets are $20.00 per person in advance and $25.00 at the door and the price includes three games of bowing and pizza and pop. Euchre tourney
A euchre tournament fundraiser for the Goodrich class of 2009 will be at 4 p.m., Feb. 22 at Cranberries Cafe downtown Goodrich.

Eye exam
If you wish to see an eye doctor, at the Edna Burton Senior Center, 10 a.m., March 10th an eye doctor will give each patient a thorough eye exam. The doctor will write prescriptions for eyeglasses and most major insurances are accepted. Sign up on the poster at the senior center or call 248-627-6678.

U-16 fastpitch
The Michigan Hawks U-16 fastpitch softball team will be waiting tables at John’s Steakhouse in Goodrich from 4:30-10 p.m., March 3. All tips will go to directly to the team. This fundraiser will help with the cost of tournament fees, uniforms and equipment. Details: Lori Phelps, 248-627-7302.

Memorial bells
The second annual Peggy Van Vlack Memorial Ring concert will be held at 3 p.m., March 7 at the Goodrich High School auditorium. The event is free and everyone is welcome. The bell choirs, led by Kay French of Classical Bells of Sterling Heights, will play combined solo pieces. Grand Blanc and Goodrich Methodist churches, Faith Lutheran Church of Grand Blanc, and the Shepherd of the Hills Church of Howell, along with the Goodrich High School Bell Choir will be featured groups.
