Crashes continue to pile up on icy roads

Snow and ice on the roads continue to take a toll on drivers going too fast for conditions. Crashes, spin outs, sideswipes, etc. over the past week or so include:
Two drivers who were both cited after sideswiping each other, 11:14 a.m., Jan. 18, on Perry Lake Road. The 37-year-old Independence Township man and 29-year-old Grand Blanc man misjudged the distance between their vehicles as they passed each other in the snowy road.
A 23-year-old Independence Township man lost control on the icy road at Andersonville and White Lake roads and hit a vehicle parked on the shoulder, 5:59 p.m., Jan. 19. The other vehicle had been parked by its owner in order to help another driver who had slid off the ice.
A 26-year-old Lake Orion man was cited after losing control on an icy Maybee Road at Ava, 7:16 a.m., Jan. 20. He crossed the center line and hit two vehicles before getting hit by another vehicle.
Deputies cited a 74-year-old Independence Township man after losing control on the ice on Maybee Road at Clintonville, 10:04 a.m., Jan. 20, and running over a speed limit sign.
A 27-year-old Independence Township man was cited after sliding through an icy Sashabaw and Oakhill, rear ending another vehicle, 3:55 p.m., Jan. 21.
A 50-year-old Sterling Heights woman was going to fast when she hit a patch of ice, lost control, and rolled her vehicle onto the road shoulder, 6:04 p.m., Jan. 22, on I-75 near Holcomb. She was uninjured.
A 17-year-old Flushing girl lost control on an icy curve on Sashabaw Road at Pine Knob Road and hit a car, 8:58 p.m., Jan. 22.
A 48-year-old Ortonville man was cited after spinning out on an icy M-15 near Strawberry Circle, 9:26 p.m., Jan. 22, crossing the center line and hitting a car.
A 54-year-old Dearborn man said he tapped on the brake, sending his car sideways into a ditch on an icy I-75 near M-15, 9:50 p.m., Jan. 22.
A 31-year-old Waterford man slid on the ice off I-75 near Clarkson Road, bounced on the guard rail, spun across all three lanes, hit the guard rail on the opposite side, and came to rest 50 feet down the highway in the left lane, 12:07 a.m., Jan. 23. He suffered minor injuries, and was cited for unsafe driving.
Deputies cited a 26-year-old Independence Township man after sliding on an icy I-75 near Sashabaw Road, bouncing off the left guard rail, spinning across three lanes off the road and rolling over, 5:44 a.m., Jan. 23. He suffered minor injuries and was cited for unsafe driving.
After spinning on the ice into a tree on Sashabaw Road at Pine Knob, a 37-year-old Independence Township woman was cited for unsafe driving, 6:24 a.m., Jan. 23.
A 19-year-old Ortonville man saw traffic was slowing down on I-75 near Sashabaw Road and hit the brakes, 10:15 a.m., Jan. 23. He spun out, hitting a car, bouncing off a guard rail, and sideswiping three more vehicles. He was cited for unsafe driving.
