Dancing dogs

Dogs compete in the Awesome Pawsome Freestyle Dog Dance Competition at Springfield Oaks County Park Activity Center, 12451 Andersonville Road, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Nov. 6-7.
‘This is a very fun, unique event. Dogs and owners from all over the country will be competing in traditional or freestyle dance categories. There’s something for everyone,? said Nancy vonKoehnen, event coordinator.
The event includes a test for competitors, raffle, vendors and competition. Dogs compete in freestyle or heel-work categories.
Prizes include gift certificates, trophies, medals and gift baskets.
Dogs are judged on audience appeal, technical precision, costume or collar, flow of movement, creativity and overall choreography.
A potluck of food and beverages will be available for a minimal fee. The event is free and open to the public.
Spectators? dogs are not permitted at the event.
