Three recent home invasions in Independence Township give the appearance of someone who knew what to look for and where.
‘My guess is they’re related,? according to Lt. Dale LaBair, commander of the Independence Township substation of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
The break-ins occurred on April 13 and 14, all in the general vicinity of Waldon and Clintonville roads.
Taken from one home was a fireproof box containing U.S. Treasury bonds and antique coins, from another a lockbox with U.S. Savings Bonds and birth certificates and from the third a jewelry box.
Although one victim reported a suspicious vehicle in the area, deputies later learned it was a bona fide utility meter reader. LaBair said there are few clues and no firm suspects.
‘We really don’t have anything,? he said.
Those with information concerning the break-ins are encouraged to call the sheriff’s department at (248) 620-4968.
