Detective to speak on Internet safety

On Thursday, March 6, the Clarkston High School PTSA will host Detective James Mork from the Troy Police Department for a training program on Internet Safety designed for parents with students of all ages.
The presentation will be held in the LGI Room located off the main entrance at Clarkston High School. The program is set for 7 p.m.
Two years ago, Detective Mork was assigned to the Michigan Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force. During these past two years Detective Mork has almost exclusively worked on Internet crimes where children have been victimized.
Detective Mork teaches parents about why they should monitor Internet use in their homes and how. Detective Mork will also share his knowledge of computer programs with filters that can assist in keeping your children safe while on the Internet. Detective Mork has already presented this training program to the school communities of Troy and Utica and is in current dialogue with many school districts to develop this training program for a student presentation format.
This presentation is designed for parents. Parents of children of all ages are encouraged to attend, for our children’s safety has no age limit.
