Dragons hosted swim championship

Lake Orion High School hosted the Oakland County Swimming and Diving Championships at the high school’s Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 3. Competitors were top swimmers from all over the district who qualified to compete at this meet.
The Dragon girls placed 14th out of 27 teams with an overall score of 65.
Qualifying swimmers from this meet will compete in state championships. MHSAA State Meet for Division 3 will be held at Eastern Michigan University where the qualifying girls will compete on Nov. 20.
In the first event, the 50 yard freestyle, sophomore Annelise Jongerkrijg swam 25.91 and senior Nicole Kudla swam a 26.05.
In the 100 butterfly Kudla achieved a time of 1:03.16 which placed her 17th while Colby Pudlo swam 1:04.52 placing her 25th.
In the 100 freestyle, Courtney McClear qualified for a State time of 55.85,’while Jongerkrijg placed 19th with a time of 57.04.
In the 500 freestyle senior Christine Forrest placed 28th with a time of 5:33.89. Sophomore Ronnie Booth went 1:06.28 in the 100 backstroke.
In the 200’and 400 freestyle’relay, the Dragon girls qualified for State Championships. The relays include Jongerkrijg,’McClear,’Forrest and’Kudla.
