The Lake Orion boys? varsity track and field team were just 12 and a half points out of first place at regionals on May 15.
The meet was won by Holly, where it was also held.
Still, the team ran well, according to Coach Stan Ford. Senior Jeremiah Hargett qualified for the state meet by finishing second in the 1600m run with a time of 4:20.5, and the 800m run in 1:57.6 for fifth place, qualifying by time in a very strong 800m field.
Senior Ryan Ziolko qualified in two events also, the 1600m Run, (third in 4:24.4), and the 3200m Run, (fourth in 9:45.08).
Senior Jeff Heath qualified in the 200m Dash by finishing second in 22.4 and Junior Nathan Ziolko qualified in the 3200m Run by finishing 2nd in 9:42.1).
