Drivers collect donations for Lighthouse

Clarkston bus drivers and friends volunteered for two weekends during this year’s 10th annual Stuff a Bus. They collected food donations for Lighthouse at Neimans Family Market on Dixie Highway and Krogers on Sashabaw Road.
‘It’s going pretty good ? we did well at Neiman’s,? said bus driver Darlene Welch at the Kroger event last Saturday.
‘It’s just to help the community, to be there for them. We’re happy to do it.?
‘It’s a very worthy cause,? said Mike Morris, retired bus driver who has volunteered at the event for several years.
They delivered a full bus load of food from the Neiman’s collection and were on the way to collecting another last weekend at Krogers, said Connie Stapleton of Lighthouse.
Paraeducators and post high students also volunteered to help out this year, Welch said.
‘It’s working out really well, and we’re thrilled the school district helps us use a bus for this,? she said. ‘People donate so much every year ? I can’t imagine how Lighthouse would get through the holidays without them.?
