Edna Burton Senior Center, McCreery great for community

Dear Editor:
The Edna Burton Senior Center has been through many changes during my 20 years working in our township. The center is the wonderful, warm place it is now due mostly to our clerk, Jeannie McCreery. She has been patient and caring and has listened to our seniors? needs. Jeannie has been instrumental in the center, enabling us to hire a part-time programmer so that new and educational classes are taught here. She has been able to have seniors trained through Title V funds, allowing them to become employable. We are able to have a monthly newsletter through grants that she has obtained to reach our older citizens. Our memorial garden and pond that is dedicated to Edna Burton is thriving due in part to Jeannie’s dedication to the center and keeping her eye on it. We are currently in the process of getting a new walkway and retaining walls with more grants.
My life, along with those of our visitors, has been enhanced because of our Clerk, Jeannie. Her faith in me has given me the courage and energy to hold numerous fundraisers that also help to improve the center without using taxpayers? funds. Jeannie stops in, and knows by name our residents, and talks with them to find out what they need. This is one of the reasons she started the yard cleanup day for the seniors. A need to help our seniors was met with the dedication of our clerk, Jeannie McCreery. I have seen her partaking in classes or playing bingo just for the pure enjoyment of her job and the enjoyment of those around the Edna Burton Senior Center.
