Addison Township firefighters saved a two-story single-family house from what could have been a devastating blaze on Thursday, Jan. 15.
Fire personnel were called to 2550 Rochester Rd. at 10:39 a.m. when a passer-by noticed smoke emanating from the 2,500-square-foot dwelling.
Nobody was home at the time, except for two dogs who were secured by neighbors.
The first unit was on the scene in four minutes and the fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. ‘The crews made an immediate interior attack and got the fire knocked down,? said Fire Chief George Spencer.
Although the cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, per standard procedure, it does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
Spencer said fire investigators believe the cause to be electrical in nature, but have not confirmed anything.
It appears the fire began in the basement and burned its way through the above two floors. ‘It burned in a very vertical manner,? Spencer said.
No civilians or firefighters were injured as a result of the blaze. Fire departments from Oxford, Oakland and Dryden assisted Addison.
