Emma Felts of Grand Blanc, age 90, passed away on September 2, 2021. She was born in Goobertown, Arkansas on April 24, 1931 to the late William Cloyd and Ola Willey. Emma was one of eight siblings, whom have all preceded her in death. As a young adult, she moved to Michigan to help her sister, Alma, in the care of her young children. For 66 years, she was married to James Roy Felts, who was also born and raised in Arkansas.
She was an expert seamstress and made anything that anyone ever asked her to sew, including a wedding dress for her daughter in law. Emma loved baking pies and cakes. She made several wedding, birthday, and special occasion cakes for many friends and relatives. She learned to make hand dipped chocolate candies that many individuals looked forward to every holiday. Emma was a gardener and canned hundreds of vegetables from her garden. She also loved to fish. Emma took navigation and instrument panel classes in order to assist her husband when he flew his airplane.
Emma dedicated her life to caring for her family. She loved children and babysat for several family members and friends over the years. She opened her house and heart to anyone in need. Emma was very adventurous, always cheerful, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her presence.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings.
Emma is survived by her children Dean (Nancy) Felts and Sue (Tim) Farner, grandson Jared (Nicole) Farner, and grandson Kyle Farner.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
