Emma Jane Reid of Moorestown, Michigan, formerly of Ortonville, Michigan Died August 3, 2021. She was 84.

Emma was born May 27, 1937 in Clare County, Michigan to the late Bernard and Emma (nee: Brubaker) Fitzpatrick. She is survived by 5 children, Emmaly (Rick Medlock) Reid, Beverly (Gary Winterbottom) Gonzales, Eva (John McAvoy) Reid, Bernie (Karen) Reid, and Mary Jo (Philip) Simpson.; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include 2 brothers Jerry (Jan) Fitzpatrick, and Glen (Rosie)   Fitzpatrick. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1994 and two grandchildren, Evan McAvoy and Elizabeth McAvoy.

Emma Jane graduated from Michigan State University in 1959 with a BA in education and taught for 35 years at Goodrich Elementary Schools, collecting a library full of children’s books. She was a long-time member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Upon retirement she joined Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Prudenville. She loved to play games, cards and had a life long love for sewing. For over 50 years she made the annual family camping trip to Racine Lake in Ontario. After her retirement she became a world traveler, visiting Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church 309 E. Maple St., Holly. Emma Jane will lie in state at 10:00 a.m. with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to mass. Following the liturgy, Wednesday the family will receive friends at a visitation from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME 135 South St,. Ortonville. Interment will be at Moorestown Cemetery, Moorestown, Michigan. Emma Jane will also lie in state at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Prudenville, Michigan on Friday, August 13, 2021 with a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon following.
