Even after winning more than 96 percent of the vote in the August 5 Republican primary, incumbent Oxford Township treasurer Joseph Ferrari is taking little’if anything’for granted.
He will face five independent opponents in the November election.
‘I’m very appreciative of the voters who supported me,? said Ferrari. ‘Anytime there are other people (in the race), there’s always a challenge.?
The treasurer feels that what has helped him so far is providing ‘good service? and always being available to tax payers. ‘Fortunately, I have a job I love,? he said.
If elected to another term, he hopes to be able to implement a two-year budget cycle to plan what will happen in the future so that the township is well prepared.
He said he would also like to figure out a solution for the water bond debt..
‘We’ll be falling short in making payments in a couple of years, so we’ll need to look for a way to resolve the matter,? he said.
