Stadium Drive’s fifth graders won’t falter even in a down-turned economy.
As an extension of the district’s Career Focused Education emphasis, the school’s fifth grade students apply for jobs in the office, with a teacher, as kindergarten assistants, with safety patrol, with the recycle crew or on their morning news crew.
In the spring, as preparation for their jobs, fourth graders fill out applications complete with references for the jobs they would like to have the following year.
Stadium Drive then hosts a job fair and students are interviewed for the jobs by staff who oversee each position. Staff take all information into account and look for the students strengths when they later meet and assign jobs.
Students are offered a contract and evaluated throughout the year on job performance.
The students take this very seriously and put every effort into presenting themselves as best they can.
