You’ve heard the slogan, ‘Fight the bite, but do it right!? Visit the Wint Nature Center at Independence Oaks County Park and learn how to guard against the West Nile Virus.
‘Mosquito Smart? is set for Saturday, July 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Kathleen Dougherty, head naturalist, said the program will be fun, entertaining and easily understood.
‘You can protect yourself (from the West Nile virus) and still enjoy the outdoors,? Dougherty said.
There will be a puppet show teaching the ecological role of the mosquito plus participants will learn the three R’s of West Nile: reduce, repel and report.
The program is not appropriate for pre-school age children. The cost is $1 per person. You can call (248) 625-6493 to pre-register.
