An updated fireworks ordinance was adopted on Nov. 13 during the Independence Township board meeting.
The new ordinance limits the days residents can set off consumer fireworks like roman candles and bottle rockets. Now, Independence Township residents can only ignite fireworks on the day before, the day of, and the day after national holidays such as Labor Day, Independence Day, and New Year’s.
