Once again Oxford/Orion FISH is collecting backpacks and school supplies for local needy students from Aug. 1-18.
Back-to-school shopping can be expensive, but for those on a tight budget, it can be very difficult to get their children the items they need.
FISH is looking for donations of new backpacks and various school supplies such as crayons, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, folders, glue, scissors, three ring binders, pencil pouches, pencil boxes or gift cards for FISH to purchase these items.
Last year, FISH put together 181 backpacks filled with wonderful supplies for children ages 4 through 18.
FISH is predicting more than 200 backpacks will be needed this year between Oxford, Lake Orion and Addison.
All of the families that will receive assistance for school needs have been interviewed and provided the necessary documents to insure eligibility.
Please contact FISH at (248) 693-0638 if you can help, or drop off your donated items to the FISH pantry on Thomas Road.
