Clarkston SCAMP is celebrating its 30th annual Home Tour, June 2-3, with a line-up of five local houses.
Britton and Gretchen Diver’s eclectic, five-bedroom house is filled with unique and colorful d’cor. Gretchen loves to reuse materials, and each room houses something that she created. The family’s large backyard faces 10 acres of woods, providing a perfect place for three boys to play.
Mark and Kerri Wayne have combined modern advancements and classic elements to create a luxurious living space for their family. Heated flooring, detailed woodwork and French accents are all part of the custom-designed home. One of the most interesting pieces of technology is the in-wall sound system that sends music from their piano throughout the house.
When Paul and Patti Rumph were house hunting in 1978, they immediately fell in love with the peaceful, country-like setting that Perry Lake Road offered. After participating in SCAMP’s ninth Home Tour, the family doubled the size of the house. A new great room, an expanded pool area, and a hallway displaying antiques are just a few of the changes guests can expect to see.
Also on Perry Lake Road, Peter and Julie Piazza’s home has been compared to the estate in Gone with the Wind. Dating back to the Walters family in 1871, the house and property were originally part of Oak View Farms. With its century-old fireplace, hardwood floors, and original flagstone porch, the home is a creative mix of old and new.
Set back from Waldon Road, the home of Dennis and Sandra Ritter is nestled between trees and the creek winding through downtown Clarkston. The couple built their house in 2005 after being inspired by a property in upstate New York. By following a similar plan, the Ritters created a timeless, three-bedroom home that fits well in the community.
