A concept plan for a Flagstar Bank branch office on M-24, just north of the village, was unanimously approved by Oxford Township officials last week.
The Jackson, Michigan-based bank is planning to build a 3,500-square-foot single-story facility on the west side of M-24, just north of the POH Medical Center and bordering Gateway Drive to south.
The branch office will feature drive-up capabilities such as an ATM on the building with night deposit and two drive-up kiosks located on islands.
According to Flagstar Bank’s research, the ‘majority? of the branch’s customers will be ‘pass-by type trips.? The total daily traffic forecast for the branch is 500 vehicles entering and exiting the site.
A loan center will be incorporated within the building, according to the concept plan.
The branch’s proposed hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For now, the concept plan calls for Gateway Drive to serve as the only direct access point to the bank’s 21-space parking lot and drive-through area.
Although the proposed building would front M-24, it would have no direct access to road.
The possibility of a cross-conecction between the proposed bank’s lot and POH’s lot is being researched as a second access point, according to officials.
However, constructing this second access could eliminate two or three parking spaces for POH.
At the March 27 planning commission meeting, Commissioner Dan Clark noted he would like to see a service drive constructed that extends all the way from POH to Kalloway’s Restaurant and Pub. This would allow traffic to go from business to business without using M-24.
Flagstar Bank is expected to submit a site plan to the planning commission within the next 45 days.
