Oxford Christian Academy (OCA) cancelled classes Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb. 4 and 5) due to a flu bug going around the school, according to First Baptist Church of Oxford Pastor James Kester.
Kester said between 10 and 12 students in the kindergarten through eighth-grade program were out sick and some were “showing up (to school) who really shouldn’t have” because they were ill too. One or two teachers were also not feeling well, he added.
Since the number of students currently attending OCA is only in the mid-40s, Kester said school officials felt it was better to cancel classes than remain open and have to re-teach the lessons missed by such a large portion of the student body.
School officials could not be reached for comment.
