Ortonville — The Oakland County Health Division is holding a flu shot clinic from 9 – 11:30 a.m. Oct. 22 at the Brandon Senior Activity Center, located at 345 Ball St. in Ortonville.
The vaccine is covered by both Medicare B and Medicaid; otherwise a $7 donation will be accepted. Bring identification showing a current address and all insurance cards.
Individuals at increased risk for the following influenza-related complications are especially encouraged to get a flu shot:
? persons aged 50 and above
? residents of nursing homes and other chronic-care facilities housing persons with chronic medical conditions.
? adults and children with chronic lung/heart disorders, including children with asthma.
? adults and children with chronic metabolic diseases, renal dysfunction, hemoglobinopathies, and immunosuppression, including immunosuppression caused by medications and by human immunodeficiency virus.
? children and teenagers (aged 6 months to 18 years) receiving long-term aspirin therapy and possibly at risk for developing Reye’s Syndrome after influenza infection.

Flu shots
The Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan Flu Busters are now offering flu vaccinations.
VNA will be at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on Nov. 5, 9-noon.
Flu shots are $22; 35 per pneumonia shot. VNA accepts Medicare Part B, HAP, Care Choices, cash or check. Clinic locations are subject to change. Individuals are recommended to call the location prior to visiting to verify date and time.
Individuals must also bring insurance cards and photo ID at time of vaccination. VNA doesn’t immunize children under 14, but will vaccinate children 14-17 with signed parent/guardian approval.
