Clarkston High football teams will spend an evening, Friday, collecting non-perishable food products in local neighborhoods.
The food goes to stocking the emergency pantry for Lighthouse Emergency Services in Clarkston.
The annual event helps build awareness of a community need, promotes team unity, and allows players to give back to the community that supports them.
Late summer is a time of high need for Lighthouse and due to the economy, they are in critical need of donations this year.
Last year the boys collected 3,900 pounds of food and household necessities and hope to collect more this year.
Freshman players will be at Lighthouse beginning at 6 p.m.
JV and varsity players will collect food in neighborhoods from 6:15-7:30 p.m.
They will be collecting non-perishable, non-expired foods from the following neighborhoods:
Pine Knob Village, Spring Lake, Kelly Lake, Simler and Phelan, Whipple Shores, Eastview and Westview, Chestnut Hill, Woodglen Estates and Pinetree Valley, Northview, Floretta, Parnell, and Central, Deerwood, Oakhurst Ridge Road, Birdland/Chickadee roads, Snowapple/Cramlane roads, Pine Knob Road, Sheringham, Morningstar/Heritage.
Donations can also be dropped off at Lighthouse at 6330 Sashabaw Road.
Clarkston Chiefs Youth Football Program will be assisting by collecting personal and paper products. Financial sponsors for the pre-‘Rush? dinner are Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet and Lunghamer GMC, Complex Too & Machine, Inc. and Lighthouse.
