Goodrich – The chance to demolish the former Goodrich Department of Public Works building is being put up for bid.
‘It would cost more to fix it than to replace it with something different,? said village administrator Jakki Sidge.
The building, located in the village park between Hegel Road and Erie Street, will be demolished to make room for elements of the village recreational master plan.
Following a public meeting tentatively scheduled for Jan. 24, the village will submit grant proposals to improve the park. Proposals could include restroom facilities, a pavilion, or a playground for young children, said Sidge. A tiered handicap-accessible ramp from Hegel Road is also being considered.
‘If we can write a grant and have matching funds, we’ll go for it,? Sidge said.
Village council members are eyeing placing an ice rink near the site of the former DPW building, formerly a manufacturing company.
