Richard and Freda Crawford of Columbia, SC will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 2, 2011. The couple married in 1951 in Hamtramck, at Resurrection Parrish. In typical Polish tradition, their celebration lasted all day beginning with a full breakfast complete with kielbasa and stuffed cabbage rolls. After pictures at Belle Isle, the reception continued into the night climaxing with the traditional Dollar Bridal Dance and Polish Wedding March at midnight.
Rick and Freda spent almost 30 years in the Detroit area and then moved to Lake Orion where they established many lifelong friendships. It’s here that they spent just shy of 20 years as owners of Rick’s Party Store. In 1992 they retired to Florida and spent almost 15 years living in Spring Hill. In 2006 Rick and Freda moved north again to Columbia, SC where they still reside. Freda is enjoying retirement by attending water aerobics five days a week, playing cards on the computer, gardening and attending her grand children’s sporting and school events. Rick continues to keep busy with his never ending home improvement projects, dabbling on the computer including rebuilding several from scratch and watching plenty of cable TV. They still love playing cards though their preference has veered from Euchre to Shanghi Rummy.
The couple is blessed with three children; Rick Crawford of Lake Orion and Phoenix, Az, Tom Crawford and his wife Tina of Pinckney, and Gail Crawford Harrison and her husband Don of Columbia, SC. They are the proud grandparents of Jason Kayfesh, Chad and Dustin Crawford, Biggs, Richard and Abigail Harrison and great grandparents of Xavier and Ninah Kayfesh.
