Four-year-old Carmelina already has a good feeling about helping others less fortunate.
The little girl recently donated about eight inches of her hair to an organization called Children With Hair Loss so that a needy child could have some beautiful hair.
Carmelina’s mother, Sara, said some of Carmelina’s cousins have donated their hair and she also has done it, so Carmelina had a good idea why she wanted to do it, too.
‘So, I can give it to sick kids,? she said.
The hair cutting was recently done at The Hair Inn of Orion, located at 3753 Baldwin, by stylist Kelly Toth.
Melissa Lewis, owner of The Hair Inn, said it is rare to see someone as young as Carmelina have an understanding how she can help others by donating her hair.
Lewis? mother passed away about four years ago from cancer and she is a strong advocate of supporting causes to help those with the disease.
The business has had hair drives previously and averages a few cuttings each week of those who want to donate their long hair. Cuttings usually range from eight to 10 inches but sometimes can be hair that is down to someone’s behind.
Carmelina’s mother said she had one other motivation behind getting her hair cut.
‘She said she also wanted it cut so her little sister wouldn’t pull it anymore.?
